DIY Pressed Flower Christmas Cards

Add a Personal Touch with DIY Pressed Flower Christmas Cards

Sending Christmas cards is a cherished tradition, but why not make yours stand out this year? DIY pressed flower Christmas cards are a beautiful, personal way to show your loved ones you care. Plus, they’re easy to create and a fun way to use flowers from your Freddie's box! Follow these simple steps to make cards that are sure to im-press.

What You’ll Need

  • Pressed flowers and foliage (flowers with thin stems from your box work best. Like limonium, alstroemeria)
  • Blank card
  • Craft glue
  • A paintbrush
  • Fun pens
  • Optional extras: glitter, ribbons, stickers, or gold leaf

Step 1: Press Your Flowers

Choose small, flat flowers or leaves from your Freddie's box (maybe a week after you've enjoyed them in your water. Place them between parchment paper or inside a heavy book, layering with paper to avoid moisture damage. Leave them to press for 1-2 weeks.

Step 2: Prepare Your Design

Think about your card design before gluing. You could create a Christmas wreath, a Christmas tree, or a simple scattering of petals for a minimalist look. Lay out your pressed flowers on the card to experiment with arrangements.

Step 3: Assemble Your Card

Using a small paintbrush, apply a thin layer of glue to the back of each pressed flower or leaf. Carefully place them on your card. Press gently to ensure they stick without breaking. Let the glue dry completely.

Step 4: Add Festive Details

Make your card extra special with personal touches. Use a gold pen to write "Merry Christmas" or add delicate snowflakes around your design. A sprinkle of glitter or a touch of gold leaf can give your card a festive sparkle. Ribbons or tiny bells can be glued to the edge for a fun finish.

The Final Flourish

Place your finished card in an envelope, and it’s ready to send! Consider tying the envelope with twine or adding a wax seal for an extra-special presentation.

Spread Joy with Handmade Magic

Creating pressed flower Christmas cards is a lovely way to add a special touch to the ones your love. It might even inspire them to try their own! So, gather your flowers, get creative, and make this year’s Christmas cards unforgettable.
