How to make the perfect flower crown
Flower crowns are timeless accessories that can add a touch of natural beauty and whimsy to any festival or celebration. Whether you're heading to a music festival, a wedding, or a garden party, a handmade flower crown is the perfect summer accessory. So here’s how to make the ultimate Freddie’s Flowers flower crown from your flowers!
Best flowers to use
The best flowers to use are limonium, eucalyptus, alstroemeria, lisianthus, spray carnation and santinis.
Measure and cut the base:
- Wrap the floral wire around your head to measure the circumference.
- Cut the wire, leaving a little extra length to twist the ends together.
- Twist the ends to form a circular base.
Prepare the flowers and foliage:
- Trim the stems of your flowers to about 2-3 inches long.
- Remove any excess leaves from the stems.
- Group small bunches of flowers and greenery together, securing them with floral tape.
Attach the flowers:
- Starting at one end of the wire base, attach a small bundle of flowers using floral tape.
- Continue adding flower bundles, slightly overlapping each one to cover the wire.
- Alternate between flowers and greenery to create a balanced look.
Secure the crown:
- Once you’ve covered the entire wire base, secure the end of the floral tape.
- Use additional wire or tape to ensure all the flowers are tightly secured.
- Check the crown for any loose flowers and secure them as needed.
Final touches
- Try on the crown and adjust the flowers for even distribution.
- Trim any excess stems or leaves that may be sticking out.
- Mist the crown lightly with water to keep the flowers fresh.
Now you are ready to wow everyone that sees you. With your home made bespoke flower crown you'll be the centre stage of any party!
